Swan rescued for 'the greater good' by police

A swan has been rescued after it was seen wandering around St. Mary's Way on Wednesday afternoon.


Officers from Leicestershire Police managed to capture the animal within a locked gate to the side of the Regal Cinema in King Street, Melton following concern from local residents.

The swan was seen walking around the car parks in St. Mary's Way as well as up the middle of the road before being rescued by Police.


Officers were seen checking on the animal on Wednesday afternoon following a successful rescue effort.


It's understood someone was on the way to check the welfare of the swan.
