Police helicopter requested to assist police in Melton

Leicestershire Police have confirmed that they requested the help of the National Police Air Service (NPAS) in Melton last night to assist officers on the ground.

Residents could hear the Police Helicopter in the Edendale Road/Queensway area of Melton around 10:30pm last night (Monday).

A Police spokesperson confirmed that officers requested the helicopter to search for a missing person, who was later found safe and well.

Residents online were hoping that the helicopter scramble wasn't the result of another hoax call.

In regards to that incident the Force told NEMM that officers have made contact with the caller but no charges have been made as yet.
