Police issue update on main road closure
Leicestershire Police have issued an update on why a main road in to Melton was closed last night (Sunday). Police posted a social media update around 20:41 on Sunday evening stating that Leicester Road was closed in both directions around the Samworth Brothers factory with no access in to Melton. It's understood the road re-opened to traffic around 22:30 last night. The road was closed from Leicester Road Industrial Estate to Samworth Way with no access from either direction

Sainsburys in Nottingham Road, which is also home to Starbucks and Argos, was evacuated just after 3pm on Friday afternoon following reports of a fire inside.
