Residents urged to 'shop local and celebrate big' as Christmas heads for Melton
The upcoming Christmas celebrations in Melton are a great time to support local businesses according to Melton Borough Council. Details of the full Christmas schedule have been released and it all stars on Friday 28th November in the town centre with the annual Christmas Light Switch On event, this year bringing back the victorian theme to the event. A theme which has proved extremely popular in previous years. Melton's light switch on will take place on Friday 28th November.

Proposal for new car wash in prominent town centre location
Planners at Melton Borough Council have received an application to turn the car park of a former print distributor in to a 'hand car wash'. The application was received by officials on 1st September for 1 Norman Way on the corner of Scalford Road and Norman Way and has already generated more than 40 objections on the planning website. A 76-year-old man has pleaded guilty to poisoning children with sedative-laced sweets and sexually assaulting them at a summer camp in Stathern. Bypass contractors help transform charity superstore car park
A team of contractors from Melton's distributor road have helped transform a local charity shop's car park with help from their project delivery partners. Police appeal after pedestrian injured in non-stop collision in Melton
Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian was seriously injured following a non-stop collision in Melton Mowbray. The incident happened at around 3.40pm on Sunday 2nd November on Kirby Lane and involved a pedestrian and a vehicle, believed to be a small beige car, which failed to stop at the scene. Council leader updates on Stockyard project as delay confirmed
Construction of the much anticipated Stockyard Development on Scalford Road will not start until at least Summer 2026, it has been confirmed. The Leader of Melton Borough Council has confirmed construction of Melton's Stockyard project will begin in July 2026, almost a year later than planned. Melton's Poundland store has today, Friday, started a clearance sale of the stock as the store is set to close. Poundland took over the closed Wilko store in Nottingham Street in October 2023.
