Rail passengers warned to expect delays ahead of strike action

Passengers who plan to use rail services later in the month have been warned of upcoming disruption caused by strike action.

Following the announcement that The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) members will be striking on 21, 23 and 25 June, the rail industry has introduced a temporary timetable and warned of disruption ahead on the network.

National Rail have urged passengers to only travel by train if necessary and said you are travelling to expect severe disruption and plan ahead.

The RMT has balloted about 40,000 members across Network Rail and 15 train companies for industrial action over pay and terms and conditions. The rail industry wants to work with the RMT to bring how it runs its services up to date, so that it is more reliable, more affordable and inspires more customers back on board.

It is thought that Cross Country services which operate through local stations will be effected,

More news will be announced once train operators have confirmed the scale of the stike and which services this will affect.
