Event organisers defend decision to continue with firework show despite recent dry spell
The event company behind an upcoming major firework display have defended their decision to continue with the event. Governing body to investigate fatal Langar skydiving incident
A national governing body has begun an investigation into the death of an experienced skydiver near an airfield in The Vale of Belvoir. Emergency services were called to Langar Airfield on the Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire border at 12:13 on Sunday afternoon. It was then confirmed that a 22-year-old experienced sky divver was found in a nearby field and pronounced dead at the scene. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that no one else was injured. Woman dies in Sky Diving incident in Vale of Belvoir
A young woman has died after a skydiving incident near Langar Airfield. Emergency services were called at 12.13pm today (Sunday). The woman, aged 22, was found in a nearby field and pronounced dead at the scene. Tributes paid to 'beautiful, loving soul' who died in Syston lake tragedy
Tributes have been paid to a 13-year-old boy who died after getting in to difficulty while paddling in a lake in Syston. Hayden Jones-Powell has been described by his family as a 'cheeky, gorgeous 13 year old' in a Crowd Funder online. Body found following search of Syston lake
Specialist police dive teams searching for a teenage boy following reports he entered a lake in Syston yesterday afternoon (Thursday 25 June) have recovered a person from the water. A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "We can confirm it is the teenager known to have entered the lake and his family are being supported specialist officers." Firefighters working hard to tackle Vale scrap fire
Firefighters from four counties are currently tackling a large fire in the Vale of Belvoir. Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue received a call earlier today (Thursday) to reports of a fire in Langar. Teenagers arrested in Thurmaston fire investigation
Police have arrested three teenage boys in connection with a major fire at Thurmaston Shopping Centre. Police were called to the shopping centre in Barkby Thorpe Lane just after 4.15am on Saturday 20 June following a report of a fire. Network Rail confirm repair date for broken crossing at Melton Mowbray Railway Station
Network Rail have advised that a rail crossing which was damaged by the recent lightning strike at Melton railway station is planned to be fixed tomorrow (Wednesday). Currently there's no step free access for wheelchairs or pushchairs to change platforms at Melton station after the magnetic lock failed resulting in the closure of the crossing.
