Police respond to injured girl at Melton school
A teenage girl has been taken to hospital after becoming injured at a local school. Police and the East Midlands Ambulance Service attended John Ferneley College in Scalford Road, Melton at lunchtime on Wednesday afternoon. Police have confirmed a third party was not involved. County Council U-Turn as nursery proposals dropped
Plans affecting four specialist nurseries in Leicestershire will not go ahead following significant feedback from a recent consultation. Police issue update on main road closure
Leicestershire Police have issued an update on why a main road in to Melton was closed last night (Sunday). Police posted a social media update around 20:41 on Sunday evening stating that Leicester Road was closed in both directions around the Samworth Brothers factory with no access in to Melton. It's understood the road re-opened to traffic around 22:30 last night. The road was closed from Leicester Road Industrial Estate to Samworth Way with no access from either direction


Melton supermarket evacuated following reports of a fire inside
A Melton supermarket has been evacuated this afternoon (Friday) following reports of a fire inside the store. Sainsburys in Nottingham Road, which is also home to Starbucks and Argos, was evacuated just after 3pm on Friday afternoon following reports of a fire inside. A major Melton road is due to close for up to 7 days forcing HGV drivers to face a 32 mile diversion despite the Melton Mowbray Distributor Road opening in a few months time. Police watchdog to investigate several officers and staff in relation to summer camp abuse response
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is to investigate several officers and staff at two police forces over their response to safeguarding concerns at a summer camp where children were given sweets laced with tranquilliser. Eight children and one adult fell ill at the camp in Stathern Lodge, Leicestershire, in July last year. Santander announces Melton branch to close
Santander has today announced plans to close 44 branches as it continues to transform its branch network in response to changing customer behaviour.
