Finishing touches under way on Melton’s new distributor road
Finishing touches are now being made to Melton’s new distributor road ahead of its opening later this year. The final stages include planting hundreds of saplings through a £1.2 million biodiversity project, alongside completing local walking and cycling paths around the route. English oak, field maple, beech and lime, are some of the species of trees that have already been planted on the site, with some already up to two metres tall, which will help the new road blend in


Two officers praised for bravery after rescuing elderly man from flooded home
Two police officers based in Melton have been praised for their actions after rescuing an elderly man from his flooded front room while out on patrol last year. PC Dan Daley and Sergeant Jon Martin were on patrol when a storm and significant rainfall led to the worse flooding Bottesford had seen in recent history. New amber snow alert issued for East Midlands
The Met Office has issued an upgraded weather warning for the East Midlands which comes in to effect on Thursday night. A yellow warning was already in place for our area coming in to place on Thursday evening from 8pm onwards but a ne w amber alert has been issued which could see Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire hit with heavy snow, associated with Storm Goretti, and it's likely to lead to disruption and dangerous travelling conditions Thursday night into Friday.
