Pork Pie Way to open on Monday - now where's the rest of it?
It was confirmed yesterday (Thursday) during a Ministerial preview of the North East Melton Mowbray Distributor Road that the new 4.4 mile route will open fully to traffic on Monday morning (18th May). The question remains around the southern part of the route and whether we'll need to wait another 60+ years for this section to be built or if plans are underway to find some money. Pork Pie Way revealed as name for new distributor road as opening date confirmed
The new £131m Melton Mowbray Distributor Road reached a major milestone today (14th May) as its name was unveiled and the scheme officially marked complete at a preview event attended by Roads Minister Simon Lightwood MP. The road will officially be open on Monday morning following years of work by the County Council and contractors to deliver the scheme. Chosen by local residents in a decisive public vote, Leicestershire County Council’s road will be known as Pork Pie Way.


Councillors elect new leader of Melton Borough Council
A new Leader of Melton Borough Council has been elected tonight (Tuesday) at an Extraordinary Meeting of Council. Councillors formally appointed Councillor Ronan Browne as Leader of Melton Borough Council, in line with the Council’s constitutional arrangements. The appointment follows the resignation of Councillor Pip Allnatt earlier this month. Councillor Browne, who is leader of the Conservative Group, was nominated and elected by Council.
