Local sport casualty of weather

Some of today's local football matches have been postponed after frosty weather landed in the area overnight.

Holwell Sports V Kirby Muxloe at Welby Road was the first casualty of the day after failing an early pitch inspection.

Melton Town were due to travel to Heanor Town for a 3pm kick off but that is also been postponed due to a failed pitch inspection.

The clubhouse will be open for the World Cup games.

However Cottesmore AFC v Magna 73 at Meadows Sports Ground remains on.

Meanwhile Melton RFC fixtures are off as are Asfordby FC due to frozen pitches.
