A607 now open after suspected grenade cleared

The A607 near Syston has reopened after it was closed by police on Sunday lunchtime.


Police were called to reports of an ammunition box with what looked like a grenade inside and closed the A607 from Melton.

Updating the public on social media Sgt Smart from Melton Police said: “The A607 has reopened at the Syston roundabout. An ammunition case with what looked like a grenade was found in the road but the military have been out & it’s not a grenade. Thanks for your patience.”


It has not been confirmed what the item was.
