Armed officers deployed after firearm report

Armed officers were spotted in Melton yesterday afternoon (Saturday) along with the police drone.


Leicestershire Police said they deployed armed officers after receiving a call from a member of the public who said they’d seen someone who was believed to be carrying a firearm.


A spokesperson for the force said: “Armed officers were deployed to the area of Beckmill Court, Melton, yesterday (Saturday).



It followed a called from a member of the public, at 11.36am, who reported seeing a person with what they believed to be a firearm.


Armed officers were deployed to ensure public and officer safety.


No one was located at the scene. No one was injured.”


Enquiries in to the incident are ongoing.
