Car destroyed as crews tackle fire which spread to nearby field

Both fire appliances from Melton Fire Station were mobilised to a car fire this morning in Nether Broughton.

Fire Control received a call at 8:40am stating a car was on fire on Nottingham Road just outside the village.

Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service said that both appliances from Melton station attended the incident which had spread to a nearby field.

A spokesperson said: "Crews tackled the burning car on arrival, along with pockets of fire that had spread to a neighbouring field. The car was completely destroyed by the blaze, which was found to be accidental. There were no casualties."
