Crews remain on site at Melton warehouse fire

Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service remain at the scene of a warehouse fire overnight which stored chemicals.


At its height 10 fire engines, 2 aerial ladders and a water carrier were at the incident on Dalby Road in Melton.


A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service said: "We were called to a warehouse fire at Anglo Adhesives on Dalby Road, Melton Mowbray at 20:13 yesterday evening (07/09/2026). 10 fire appliances plus our aerial ladder and turntable ladder platforms were sent to the incident due to the extent of the developing blaze."

"The warehouse was two storeys high and 25m by 50m and was known to contain a large quantity of combustible liquids and other potentially dangerous chemicals."


Residents were asked to keep their doors and windows closed last night while firefighters from across Leicestershire and Rutland brought the blaze under control.


Two water carriers were also sent to provide additional capacity for the crews, who worked throughout the night trying to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings. 


Residents reported hearing expolosions at the height of the fire with multiple people posting online that loud bangs were heard.


The spokesperson added that it remains an ongoing incident, with several crews still in attendance. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
