Driver Flees on Foot Following Local Collision

Attempts to locate the driver of a car are coninuing today after a two vehicle collision near Melton last night (Thursday).


Emergency services were called just after 9pm to reports of a two vehicle collision in Thorpe Arnold at the junciton of Lag Lane.


The driver of one of the vehicles was reported to have left the scene on foot and searches by officers were undertaken in the local area including Thorpe Road and fields near the Tesco Superstore to try and locate them.

Police also deployed a drone at the scene to aid in the search.


A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "A two-vehicle collision was reported just after 9pm. It was reported that the driver of one of the vehicles had left the scene on foot prior to police arriving. Attempts to locate the driver are continuing and no arrests have been made at this time."


The road was closed from the junction of Melton Spinney Road to Woodfold Lane while emergency services dealt with the two vehicles.


The road was reopened at around 00:40 on Friday morning.

 

The force spokesperson confirmed that no life-threatening or life-changing injuries were reported.
