An emergency road closure has been impleneted to help Severn Trent Water repair a burst pipe.

The B676 Saxby Road in Melton is closed from the junction of George Street to Richard Close to allow engineers to repair a leak.

A permit was initially granted by Leicestershire County Council for multi-way signals at the roadworks but Severn Trent Water changed this to a full closure once they arrived on site.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for the disruption on Saxby Road which is due to a water leak. Our teams are working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue and we have moved to a road closure for the safety of the public and our workers, with work being slightly more complicated than first thought. We appreciate this will cause further disruption, so want to thank everyone for their patience while we do this.”

The work is expected to be completed by Tuesday 3rd November. Diversions are made around Pork Pie Way.

Leicestershire County Council has been approached for comment on the works.
