Firefighters tackle Melton kitchen fire

Firefighters tackled a kitchen fire at a property in Melton last night (Thursday) which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.


Fire Control received a call at 19:20 last night to reports of a residential property fire on Willoughby Close in Melton. Two fire appliances from Melton Fire & Rescue Station were mobilised to the incident.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Both our fire engines from Melton Fire Station attended a residential property fire on Willoughby Close in Melton Mowbray, following a call at 19:20 last night (11 December). No persons were reported."


They added: "Two breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire, which was located in the kitchen of the property. Following an initial investigation, the fire was found to have been caused by an electrical fault. The fire caused 50% damage to the kitchen, with smoke damage to the rest of the house."


The incident ended at 20:38.
