Investigation launched after three boys taken unwell in Melton park

Police are investigating after three boys were taken unwell in Melton's Play Close Park on Sunday.

Police were called to the town park shortly after 5.45pm on Sunday following reports that a boy had taken ill. Police attended, along with the ambulance service, and he was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Today (Wednesday) officers were carrying out further enquiries at the scene.

In a statement, Leicestershire Police said: "Police are carrying out further enquiries following a report of three boys being taken unwell in Play Close Park, Melton on Sunday evening (12 June). The boys – aged between 10 and 14 – were taken to hospital to be checked over."

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and an investigation to ascertain the circumstances of what happened is continuing.
