The M1 at Leicester Forest East is currently closed due to a collision involving a lorry and two cars.
Emergency services were called to the incident at 14:08 this afternoon (Saturday).
Fire crews from Wigston, Birstall and Technical Rescue from Southern Station attended the incident.

A Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Spokesperson said: “Road Traffic Collision involving 1 articulated lorry and 2 cars. North Bound carriageway is completely blocked and the south bound carriageway there is currently 1 lane open. One person is trapped and numerous casualty’s.”
Police, Fire, Ambulance and Air Ambulance are in attendance.
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson added: “Due to a Police incident, the M1 is closed from J21 to J21A in both directions. Please find alternative routes.”
A Fire Service Spokesperson issued an update just after 3:30pm, they said: “ There were 7 casualties 5 of which have been treated at scene of the incident. 2 Casualties have been transported to hospital. All vehicles involved have been made safe and Incident has been handed over to the the police. Air Ambulance has now left the scene.“
