Man charged after public order incident

A 27 year old Melton man has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker after an incident yesterday morning.

The incident took place in King Street between 3:45am and 4:30am and resulted in a large police presence and three other man being arrested.

Kane Smith, 27, of Mayfield Street, Melton, has been charged with assault on an emergency worker. He is due to appear before Leicester Magistrates' Court on 5th August.

Three 18-year-old men were also arrested during the incident on suspicion of affray and released on bail pending further enquiries.  No serious injuries were reported.
