Melton's Poundland store has today, Friday, started a clearance sale of the stock as the store is set to close.
Poundland took over the closed Wilko store in Nottingham Street in October 2023.
Last month Poundland brought its main 68-store closure programme to a conclusion, closing 57 stores by 28th September, and placing a further 11 closures on hold.
Nevertheless, in time Poundland still expects to operate a network of around 650-700 stores compared to c800 at the beginning of the restructuring programme, as leases expire or landlords exercise any option to serve notice.

Poundland’s UK country manager Darren MacDonald said: “We know how disappointing it is when we leave a store, but before we close our doors for a final time, we’re determined to say goodbye by offering even more amazing value to customers.
“The special reductions, on top of the value we provide in every store, will help us leave locations we’re leaving with pride.
“And when we close our doors, we look forward to welcoming customers to one of the hundreds of Poundland stores we’ll continue to operate right across the UK.”
It's believed staff were told of the closure this morning.
NEMM understands that a national high street retailer has been named to take over the vacant unit and has reached out to their press office for comment.
