Police investigation launched after second Play Close incident

Police are investigating after a boy suffered facial injuries following an alleged attack by youths.

Police were called to Melton’s Play Close park yesterday evening (Wednesday), for the second time in recent days, following reports that two boys had been injured.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 4.45pm yesterday a member of the public reported that two boys aged 13 and 14 had been assaulted by a group of youths in Play Close Park, Melton Mowbray.

Officers attended and found that one of the boys had suffered facial injuries.

Enquiries into the incident are continuing and local officers are carrying out additional routine patrols in the area.”
