Thorpe Road to close for up to 8 days

A major Melton road will close for up to 8 days to allow drainage works to take place and work to allow vehicular access to a new housing estate.

A road closure permit has been granted by Leicestershire County Council from 10am on Monday 4th March until 23:59 on Tuesday 12th March.

A comment on the closure says: "Thorpe Road closed to enable drainage works and a construction of a new vehicular access to a new development. Emergency access will be maintained at all times."

The official diversion will be along the A1 via Oakham.

37 new homes are being built on the site of the former Melton Hospital in Thorpe Road. Demolition of the old site commenced in October 2023.
