The Met Office has issued an upgraded weather warning for the East Midlands which comes in to effect on Thursday night.
A yellow warning was already in place for our area coming in to place on Thursday evening from 8pm onwards but a new amber alert has been issued which could see Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire hit with heavy snow, associated with Storm Goretti, and it's likely to lead to disruption and dangerous travelling conditions Thursday night into Friday.
Forecasters are warning our area could see 10-15cm of snow fairly widely with the potential for 20cm-30cm in some locations - mainly on hills above 200m elevation and more especially in the Peak District.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Snow will ease through the course of Friday morning, turning more to rain or sleet at times at low levels, but disruption is likely to persist into Friday after snow stops falling. There is some uncertainty over the exact track of Storm Goretti, which will influence the locations most likely to see disruptive snow, and it is possible this warning may be updated."
The low pressure system has been named by Meteo France, as the strongest winds associated with Storm Goretti are most likely over northern France.
It comes a year after severe weather last hit our area causing wide spread flooding and some roads in and out of Melton to be come cut off with heavy flooding in areas such as Melton Country Park and Melton Play Close.
