A1 closed at Grantham following collision

The A1 is closed in both directions south of Grantham this morning following an accident involving a lorry and a tractor.

The road is expected to remain closed until lunchtime.

The accident happened around 6.30am between the A607 and A151 Colsterworth services junction.

Traffic is slow moving and diversions are now in place along the A607 and A606 towards Melton Mowbray.

A Lincolnshire Spokesperson said: "We are on scene at a collision on the A1 involving a lorry and a tractor reported at 6.19 am this morning. The central reservation has been crossed meaning both the north and southbound carriageways are affected. The road is currently closed in both directions."

"Two men have been taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries.  

We are very grateful for the patience of those affected and ask if you can, please avoid the area. We expect the closure to remain in place for the next couple of hours. This is due to the need for recovery of the vehicles, damage to roadside furniture, debris on the road and for us to conduct our scene investigation. Traffic is affected in Grantham and surrounding areas. "
