Overnight closure planned for main Melton through route next month

A major Melton through road will be closed overnight throughout October while resurfacing works take place.

Leicestershire County Council Highways have agreed for a temporary Traffic Regulation Order on Norman Way, Melton.

Rolling road closures are required on Norman Way and at the junctions of Scalford Road, Snow Hill, Thorpe Road/Thorpe End/Saxby Road, Nottingham Street on the 5th October 2026 for 27 days.

The road will be closed overnight Monday – Sunday, 20:00hrs – 06:00hrs. The road will be open outside of these times.

The Temporary Traffic Regulation Order has been implemented for public safety, so Leicestershire County Council can carry out essential carriageway resurfacing works.

The major project will be carried out in two construction phases.

Phase 1 will start on 5th October until 18th October and will mean that Thorpe Road to Snow Hill will be closed.

Westbound access to Scalford Road and Snowhill will be maintained but there will be no through route to the Thorpe Road junction.

The second phase will take place from 19th October until 31st October. This phase will mean that Scalford Road up to Snow Hill will be closed. Eastbound access up to Snow Hill will be maintained via Thorpe End. There will be no through route to the Scalford Road junction.

During Phase 2, access from St Marys Way junctions will be prohibited between 8pm and 6am.

The one-way system on St Mary’s will be temporarily reversed to allow buses and car park vehicles to exit via King Street and Sage Cross Street.

There will be an approved HGV diversion route throughout these roadworks.

For A6006 traffic via: - Welby Road Asfordby Hill, Welby Lane, St Bartholomew’s Way, Nottingham Road (A606), Pork Pie Way to Scalford Road, Melton Spinney Road, Thorpe Road (A607), Saxby Road (B676), Burton Road (A606) and vice versa.

For all other traffic via: - Nottingham Road (A606), Pork Pie Way to Scalford Road, Melton Spinney Road, Thorpe Road (A607), Saxby Road (B676), Burton Road (A606) and vice versa.
