It's been confirmed that Charlotte Chiciro, the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland has resigned.

In a statement issued on Friday afternoon she said: "“It is with the deepest regret that I resign, with immediate effect, from my position as Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

“I would like to stress that this is entirely for personal reasons and not something I foresaw when I took up this role.  My commitment and loyalty to Rupert Matthews as Police and Crime Commissioner remains undiminished and I wish him every success as he continues to deliver his Police and Crime Plan. Rupert has always empowered me and I have been grateful for his guidance.

“I would like to thank Rupert, his entire Office, the Force and our partners for their support during my time as Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner. There is a great deal of positive work being carried out and I have enjoyed being part of that.”

Charlotte was appointed to the role in January 2025. During her time it has seen the Police and Crime Commissioner, Rupert Matthews, defect to Reform UK from the Conservatives.
