Fire crews called to tackle restaurant fire

Members of the public are being urged to avoid Burton Street this morning while crews tackle a fire in a restaurant.
Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service were called to reports of a property fire in Burton Street just after 9:20 this morning (Monday).

A spokesperson from the Fire Service said: "We were called at 09:23 to a property fire on Burton Street in Melton Mowbray. This is a ground floor fire in a restaurant, which has affected the residential property above.
Our crews from Melton Mowbray and Oakham Fire Station are in attendance and Police and EMAS colleagues have been requested. All persons have been accounted for; there are three casualties with smoke inhalation."
The spokesperson added that members of the public are being urged to avoid the area while the incident is dealt with.
