People are being warned not to panic ahead of a planned training exercise taking place in Rutland tomorrow (Wednesday).

Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service (LFRS) say they are working with Rutland County Council and the Local Resillience Forum to take part in an exercise at Kendrew Barracks near Cottesmore.

The exercise is essential to make sure they remain prepared for any potential emergencies across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

In a statement Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service said there was no risk to the public.

A spokesperson for LFRS said: "This is a controlled and carefully planned exercise with no fire, gas release, or hazards to the public. There may be an increase to traffic in the local area around Greetham during the exercise.

We would like to thank the public for their understanding and co-operation."

The exercise is planned to take place between 08:00 and 15:30 on Wednesday 12th March.
