Firefighters Tackle Sainsburys Fire

Crews from Melton station were called to a fire within the town’s Sainsburys store this morning (Monday).


Two fire engines attended just after 8:30 to reports of a doghnut machine on fire.





A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Spokesperson said: “We received a call from the site regarding a doughnut machine on fire in the baking area of the store. The store was evacuated and there were no casualties.”


The store has since re-opened.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Our Melton Mowbray store was temporarily closed for a brief time earlier today and we are now open as usual. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
