Police were called to the incident on Barrowby Road at around 6:40pm.

Two air ambulances were also scrambled to the incident including the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance.

Three people were injured when a black Nissan car left the road and collided with them. It's been reported locally that this was a mother and her two children however nothing was confirmed by police.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: "Sadly a 40-year-old woman died from her injuries, while the other two people sustained injuries not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Our thoughts are with her family at this deeply distressing time and specialist officers are supporting them.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and for drink driving after he failed a roadside breath test."
