Man charged with murder of mum of three

Detectives investigating the murder of a woman have charged a man with her murder.


Clair Ablewhite, 47, was killed at a property in Hall Lane, Colston Bassett, on the evening of Friday 25 February.


Her body was discovered the following day.

John Jessop, 26, has been charged with murder and remanded into custody.

The charge comes after Nottinghamshire Police we’re granted two custody extensions by magistrates.


Jessop, of Sherwood Avenue, Newark, will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court this morning (Saturday).


Assistant Chief Constable Rob Griffin, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our teams of detectives, specialist search officers and other local officers have been working around the clock to investigate the circumstances surrounding Clair’s murder and I am pleased to say that a suspect has now been charged.

“Our investigation continues and our thoughts remain with Clair’s family at this difficult time.”
