Melton firefighters tackle recycling centre fire

Firefighters from Melton Station attended a fire at a recycling centre in Bottesford last night.


Crews from Melton Mowbray and Grantham were called to the incident at 19:45 while on their way to a joint training exercise.

A Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Call received at 19:45 to a fire at a Recycling Plant on Orston Lane, Bottesford. Melton Mowbray and Grantham attended. Upon arrival, smoke was seen issuing from external machinery. Fire was extinguished by 8.39pm and electrics were isolated. Cause believed to be poor maintenance.”

External machinery was 100% damaged by fire during the incident.
