Overturned lorry blocks main road in Upper Broughton

Firefighters were called this morning to reports of an overturned lorry which had collided with a car and a house.


Leicestershire Fire & Rescue service received the call at 04:37 this morning (Thursday).

Crews from Melton and a Heavy Rescue unit from Newark and Technical Rescue from Southern Fire station attended the incident close to the Tap ’N’ Run pub.


A fire service spokesperson said: “On arrival Incident Commander confirmed Articulated HGV involved on its side, no persons trapped.

Lorry has collided with 2 parked cars and house. Lorry contains 39 livestock (cows).

Some livestock suffered injuries and vet requested.

Police requested and 1 side of road is closed

HGV recovery requested to attend to right vehicle.”


The A606 from Melton is closed at the Old Dalby turning.
