The road was closed from the junction of Welby Lane to Dieppe Way while investigations took place.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 8.30pm on Saturday (29 January) we received a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Nottingham Road, Melton.

The pedestrian – a man in 30s – was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while under the influence of drugs and drink-driving. He has since been released under investigation and enquiries into the incident are continuing."

The road was later re-opened at 02:42 on Sunday morning.
