Police investigate collision and cannabis grow in two local villages

Police were called to reports of a collision in Croxton Kerrial last night.


Leicestershire Police received a call around 9:30pm to reports of a collision between a van and two cars on the A607.


Reports suggested that armed officers and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) were involved in the search but this hasn't been confirmed by Police.


A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 9.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 27 February) reports were received stating a collision had occurred involving two cars and a van on the A607 in Croxton Kerrial. Officers attended and found one car abandoned at the scene. The other two vehicles had left prior to their arrival.

Enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident are continuing and no arrests have been made at this time."


Residents of Waltham On The Wolds were concerned following police activity in the village in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).


A property on Melton Road in Waltham On The Wolds was cornered off by police early on Wednesday morning with many residents questioning if it was linked with the other police activity.


A Force spokesperson added: "Police are currently at an address in Melton Road, Waltham on the Wolds, following a report a cannabis grow had been found inside.


No arrests have been made and enquiries are continuing."


It has not been confirmed if both incidents are connected.
