Police issue update as two police cordons appear on Melton street

Leicestershire Police have confirmed the reason behind two police cordons appearing on a Melton street this morning (Tuesday).


Police were called in the early hours of Tuesday morning following a report of a possible assault in the Mill Street area of Melton.

A force spokesperson said: " Just after 2.10am today (Tuesday 23 September) a report was received of a possible assault in the Mill Street area of Melton.  Officers attended and following some enquiries at the scene they arrested a man in connection with the report."

Police have said that a victim has not been located or identified at this stage and officers remain in the area carrying out further enquiries.


A police cordon remains in place on Mill Street around the alleyway to Regent Place and the pavement opposite.


Leicestershire Police added that if anyone has any information that may help, they are asked to get in touch.  Contact 101 or report via www.leics.police.uk, quoting crime number 25*559190.
