Rent Musical production won't be the same 'without you'

A group of talented performers are gearing up to bring their version of Jonathan Larson's iconic Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Rent, to Melton Theatre later this month.

The performers from Melton's Sky Theatre Company will be taking to the Melton Theatre stage between 30th August and 2nd September with four epic shows who will help tell the story of the popular musical through dance and song.

Sky Theatre's aim is to provide a platform for talented young performers in order that they can gain valuable first hand experience of performing in large scale theatre productions at a professional standard.

The team are busy preparing for the shows and have already shared sneak peaks of their rehearsals on their social media channels which look set to provide an evening of great entertainment.

The team at Sky Theatre will be bringing 'Rent' to Melton Theatre later this month.

Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's Rent follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

The team have been busy rehearsing for the shows and tickets for the performances are now on sale from Melton Theatre box office.

The cast and creative line up includes Ryan Green playing the part of 'Markk. Ryan has done a number of shows with SKY Theatre, including Singin' in the Rain, Hairspray and West Side Story. His most recent role was playing as Dracula in TMMTC's production. Ryan is looking forward to working with an exceptional cast and production team.

Charlie Harris will be playing the part of Roger in the production. He said: "I’ve always loved being part of Sky, my previous shows include Les Miserables, Singing in the Rain and American Idiot. RENT is particularly special to me since taking part in the show nearly 10 years ago. I am loving working with this talented cast and getting to play Roger. Do not miss out!!"

Adding to the excitement Vikki Rose Taylor will be potraying the part of 'Joanne'. She added: "This is only my second show with sky theatre after playing Motormouth Maybelle in their production of Hairspray a few years ago.

Rent has always been one of my favourite musicals so to be able to play the part of Joanne is incredible and I have loved working along side a fantastic cast. Show week will be an emotional, amazing rollercoaster and this show isn’t one to miss."

Tickets are on sale now for a show not to be missed. Tickets are £20 for adults and £18 for concessions, including a booking fee. To book please click here or call the box office on 01664 851111.
