Rutland and Melton MP launches campaign to find best independent shop

Following Small Business Saturday, Alicia Kearns MP has launched a new initiative to find Rutland and Melton’s Favourite Independent Shop.

The competition is designed to celebrate the hundreds of independent shops across Rutland, Melton, the Vale and Harbrough villages – with Ms Kearns welcoming nominations via her website.

There have already been over thirty nominations, including butchers, cafes, farm shops, record shops, clothes shops and so many others.

Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton, said: “We are so lucky here in Rutland and Melton to have so many wonderful independent shops – and we all know that they are some of the best in the whole country. This year, I want to find out which independent shop is your favourite, and will celebrate these wonderful businesses – hopefully giving them a bit of much-needed publicity after a tough two years.

I can’t wait to see what the favourite shops in Rutland and Melton are!”

Residents are encouraged to submit nominations across the following categories:

- Beauty and Pampering

- Children and Babies

- Clothing and Accessories

- Craft and Hobby

- Farm and Produce

- Food and Drink

- Gifts and Stationary

- Home and Garden

The competition will run until late January, and Ms Kearns is keen to promote all of the fabulous shops around Rutland and Melton throughout the festive period and January.
