Although formal identification has not yet been completed, it is believed to be missing man Lewis Mackenzie."

Lewis, 29, was last seen around midday on Sunday 10 August on the Hartopp Road area of the town. Police issued an appeal earlier this week when he had not made contact with anyone.

The force spokesperson confirmed that specialist officers are in contact with Lewis’ family and providing support at this difficult time.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.

Formal identification will be completed by HM Coroner.
