Boy charged after Melton stabbing which left woman fighting for her life

A 15-year-old boy has been charged after a woman was stabbed in Melton Mowbray on Monday evening (5 June).

Emergency Sevices were called to Discovery Drive around 6:30pm on Monday evening following reports a youth and a woman were involved in an altercation.

On arrival Police discovered the woman, who is in her twenties, with serious injuries.

East Midlands Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance were also in attendance.

The boy, who is from Melton and cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday).

The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.
