Driver dies following collision in Old Dalby

An investgation has been launched following a collision in Old Dalby this morning in which a man has died.


Leicestershire Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.


Police and the East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to Nottingham Lane at 7.10am following a report a black Land Rover Discovery had left the carriageway and gone into a ditch. No other vehicles were involved.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulanc was also in attendance at the incident along with Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service.


The driver of the Land Rover – a man – was treated by doctors at the scene but sadly died shortly after the collision occurred.

A road closure has been put in place while emergency services remain at the scene.


PC Ellise Timmins, from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “Our investigation to establish the circumstances of the collision is continuing and I’d like to speak to anyone who can help.


“I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone with a dashcam or who saw the Land Rover prior to the collision occurring. Anything you’re able to tell us could assist our enquiries.”


The following roads are closed with emergency services in attendance: Nottingham Lane Jct with Longcliff Hill Old Dalby / Six Hills Lane jct with Lawn Lane /Paddy's Lane A6006 Jct with Gibson Lane/ Main Road and Chapel Lane Old Dalby.
