Leak appears on main road just days after being resurfaced
A water leak has appeared on Scalford Road in Melton just days after patching works were completed along the whole road.
Leicestershire County Council have been working on Scalford Road from the Norman Way junction to Clark Drive and have completed most of the resurfacing works.
However just days after the bottom section was complete, a water leak has now appeared and the road will need to be repaired once again.
Engineers were on site this morning (Tuesday) investigating the leak.
A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We were informed of a leak at Scalford Road in Melton Mowbray yesterday and our engineers attended to investigate within 24 hours. Due to the location of the pipe in the highway and for the safety of our engineers, we are arranging an out-of-hours team to begin work while there is less traffic on the road. We will be working to fix the pipe and return the road back to normal as soon as possible, and apologise for any disruption this may cause.”
Seven Trent Water confirmed that no customers are affected by the leak and hope to complete the works by the end of this week.
Another major resurfacing project was announced yesterday meaning that Norman Way will be closed overnight throughout October.
