Flying Childers due to reopen after being closed for major refurbishment

A pub near Melton which has been closed for major refurbishment is due to re-open in two weeks.

The Flying Childers in Kirby Bellars, near Melton Mowbray, has been closed since 19th September while a £420,000 refurbishment was undertaken.

It's hoped the major refurbishment will emphasise its ‘warm, timeless country pub atmosphere’.

The transformation will see a brand-new Farrow & Ball colour palette introduced into the venue, alongside wall panelling and bespoke tiling. A new homely ‘snug’ section will be added to the bar featuring cosy Chesterfield seating. Additionally, there will be updates to the al fresco dining area.

The Flying Childers near Melton is due to re-open at the end of October following major refurbishment.

Situated on the outskirts of Melton, The Flying Childers is named after the undefeated 18th century thoroughbred racehorse. It is a pub-restaurant with a ‘convivial village pub atmosphere’ and a contemporary restaurant menu, including British pub classics alongside items with a modern twist, such as home-made chicken and chorizo kebab with oven-baked garlic flatbread, crumbled feta cheese and pomegranate seed salad and seasoned fries, antipasti boards, and soy glazed salmon.

The pub serves a variety of cocktails, a premium lager range and a large selection of G&Ts.

The Flying Childers at Melton Mowbray’s outdoor seating area allows guests to drink or dine alfresco, whilst the spacious and modern interior offers a relaxed dining experience. The new look is set to elevate the pub’s interior to suit all occasions, from ‘casual lunches to special celebrations’.

With over 1,600 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales, Marston’s sites range from traditional local pubs to family-friendly pub restaurants.

Hannah Lucas, General Manager of The Flying Childers, said, “We are so excited to announce that The Flying Childers at Melton Mowbray will be receiving a refresh. We have invested over £420k into breathing new life into The Flying Childers. The pub is much loved by its regulars, and we can't wait to welcome everybody back on 31st October.“

The Flying Childers at Melton Mowbray will reopen to the public on on Monday 31st October.

Ahead of the reopening, guests will be able to enjoy 50% off food as part of its soft launch, available to guests from 28th to 30th October – with limited slots available to book online shortly.
