A major road remains closed due to a traffic incident in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
The A46 is closed southbound between the A6006 (Asfordby) and the A607 (East Goscote) near Leicester due to a collision involving one car.
Emergency services have been on scene since shortly after 1am, with Leicestershire Police leading a detailed collision investigation supported by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and other responders.

In a statement National Highways England said: “The closure is essential to allow forensic examination and evidence gathering to take place safely, alongside recovery operations. These activities require a full carriageway closure and cannot be completed with traffic running alongside.”
The road has been closed since 01:46 and current estimates confirm it will remain shut until at least midday, with the possibility of extending into the afternoon depending on how the investigation progresses during daylight hours.
At present there are no delays approaching the closure or along the signed diversion route, and strategic variable message signs are in place to advise drivers.
