Network Rail have advised that a rail crossing which was damaged by the recent lightning strike at Melton railway station is planned to be fixed tomorrow (Wednesday).

Currently there's no step free access for wheelchairs or pushchairs to change platforms at Melton station after the magnetic lock failed resulting in the closure of the crossing.

Passengers have been requested to travel to Oakham or Leicester and swap platforms in order to carry on their journeys.
