Melton business owners to retire with new takeover announced at Melton Cheeseboard

A Husband and Wife team have announced they are due to retire in June after running a local cheeseshop for 18 years.

Tim and Lyn Brown have owned the Melton Cheeseboard, in Windsor Street, since 2005, during which time the shop has become one of the most well known cheese shops

in the county.

Tim said: " We have decided that the time is now right for us to retire. We are very pleased to announce that the business will continue under new ownership from June 5th, when the Oakes family, who are from Melton Mowbray, will take over the business, including our market unit based at the Stockyard, as well as the shop."

The business will continue from the Windsor Street shop, which will be run by the two Oakes brothers, Chris and Jon, who are already well established in the town, with Jon’s company The Feast and the Furious smoked food business which has been around since 2017, and is just about to embark on exciting new expansion plans with a brand new smokehouse

and restaurant in The Stockyard in Melton Mowbray.

Tim added: " Importantly for our existing customers, the Melton Cheeseboard will continue to offer the same great range, quality and service that it has become well known for, and our loyal members of staff, Paula and Linda, will still be familiar faces behind the counter. The underlying ethos over the past 18 years of supporting small and high quality food producers with as much emphasis on local sourcing as possible will still be at the forefront of the new owners plans."

"It's our dearest wish that the business continues to thrive and develop further and we hope that customers from near and far will continue to patronise Chris and Jon with their custom and enthusiasm in the same way they have with us , we thank you all for your wonderful support over the years."
