Melton Firefighters help tackle Leicester recycling fire

Firefighters from Melton station were called to assist crews from across the County to tackle a fire at a recycling plant in Leicester.


Multiple calls were made to Fire Control on Saturday evening to an address in Wesley Street in Leicester.


The fire was confirmed as a recycling centre and assistance was requested for additional support.

One fire engine from Melton attended the incident along with crews from Eastern Station, Western Station, Central Station, Wigston, Hinckley Station, Coalville Station.


They were joined to fight the blaze by the Command Support Vehicle from Shepshed, the Aerial ladder platform (ALP) from Birstall, 1 x ALP from Central, 1 x Hose Layer from Market Harborough, Water Carrier from Loughborough, Welfare Unit from Kibworth.

It is not yet known what caused the fire.
