Police were called last night following reports of a man carrying a firearm in Melton.
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 8.45pm yesterday (Thursday 8 July) a report was received that a man was carrying what was believed to be a firearm in Melton.
In the interest of public and police safety, armed officers were deployed.
Following initial enquiries, officers attended an address in Beckmill Court, where a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He remains in custody and enquiries are continuing. No-one was injured during the incident.”

An update from Leicestershire Police says: "A 44-year-old man has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm in a public place following an incident in Melton.
Grzegorz Nikolajuk, of Dorian Rise, Melton, has been released on bail and is due to appear at Loughborough Magistrates Court on 23 July.
The charge relates to an incident on the evening of Thursday 8 July when officers attended an address in Beckmill Court, Melton.
No-one was injured during the incident"
