Road closed as two people taken to hospital following collision

The A606 Oakham Road in Leesthorpe remains closed this lunchtime (Friday) following a road traffic collision where two people have been admitted to hospital.


Emergency services were called to the incident just after 11am this morning following reports of a collision involving a car and a van.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a collision involving a car and a van on the A606 Oakham Road in Leesthorpe just after 11am. Two occupants of the car – a man and woman – have been taken to hospital to be treated for injuries. The road remains closed at this time."


Firefighters and the Air Ambulance also attended the incident.


3 persons were trapped in the vehicles and were extracted by fire service and medical treatment completed by East Midlands Ambulance Service and The Air Ambulance.


The A606 reopened on Friday evening.
