Woman arrested after vehicle collides with bridge in Bottesford

A 61 year old woman has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after a vehicle collided with a bridge in Bottesford earlier today (Thursday).


Emergency services were sent to the incident in Belvoir Road, Bottesford after reports a vehicle had hit a bridge and then left the road.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Police were called at 12.52pm today (Thursday) following a report that a car had struck a bridge in Belvoir Road, Bottesford, and then left the road.


Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the scene.


The driver of the car has been taken to hospital as a precaution.


A 61-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol."


There is currently a road closure in place while the bridge is assessed for structural damage.
